Join the fun and ride your bicycle to the 1st Thursday Art Drop - a community art scavenger hunt. This will be a short, 2 - 3 mile, family friendly ride from Longfellow Park (optional Cooper Park start too) to the Art Drop. If you find the art you get to keep it and each art packet comes with a $15 Corazon gift certificate🙂. Sign up here.
New, inexperienced and occasional bike riders welcome. We’ll cover bike commute safety tips to build your comfort and confidence.
Schedule:
5:00 pm - Bicycling in the City 101, at Longfellow Park. Join early to learn the rules of the road and tips for safe riding, family riding, and all weather riding. Come with questions and to share your experience. Meet on the north side (playground side) of the Recreation Center building.
5:30 pm - Bike ride leaves from Longfellow Park Recreation Center. We will ride by Cooper Park’s NW corner, so if you want to meet there at 5:30 instead you can, just note this in your sign-up.
6:00 pm - Arrive at the Art Drop location.
6:00 - 7:00 pm - Hunt for art & enjoy local business, like Dairy Queen (don’t forget your wallet)!
7:00 - 7:15 pm - Group ride back. If you would like to ride back to Longfellow Park with the group we will leave from Dairy Queen, 4400 E. Lake Street, at 7:00 pm.
The Lake Street Art Drop series encourages people to explore, discover local artists, and support small businesses along Lake Street. The July 11 art drop will feature artists Lauren Callis and Renee Doric.
